Teaching Now Living - Part 15 - Changing Cognitive Level
Elle has been acting increasingly more child like. She came home from the Senior Center telling my sister and I that she and her 92 year old boyfriend Charles are putting their coats and her purse on chairs to prevent people they don’t particularly like from sitting at their table. Elle claims they don’t appreciate the complainers sitting with them, or people who talk too much about nothing. She says, “I’m 90 and have my own aches and pains and don’t need to hear about everyone else’s. Charles and I like to laugh and have fun while we are out.”
Tip: Help other family members understand where their loved one is in the progression of the disease using the FAST scale or Global Deterioration Scale. Practice patience, count to 10 and deep breathe.
