Ellie's grandson set up a voice-controlled media player in her home when she was in the early stages of Dementia (Stage 4). He taught Ellie to play her favorite music communicating by speaking with the player. Ellie now not only plays music, she asks it the time and weather as well. When her daughters bring over dinner Ellie can be directed to ask it the repetitive questions on her mind and not her daughters. This helps to decrease the Caregiver's stress level and listening to music helps to keep Ellie calm. Ellie enjoys playing her music independently and being able to speak with her media player around the clock.
Tip: Introduce technology in the early stage of Dementia
